Since it takes me more than 20 minutes to reply to a thread since yesterday I've been forced to remain a spectator to the bullshit being posted in the forum. I notice that there are a ton of new members and the same shit that was posted months ago is resurfacing and attracting the long time trolls to the feeding frenzy.
Deep thought's with PING: Hmmmn, like pig's blood in Hades giving the dead the strength to speak?
Anyway, I saw our protectress post this in a recent lock:
Agree or disagree with issues or character, but posts that included comments or links to articles that degrade others on the basis of gender, age, race, class, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation or disability, or those that defame character, spew epithets, use abusive language or obscene comments or perpuate debunked rumors (birth certificate, AFI Michele announcements, etc.) and slurs that poison the atmosphere of the forum will be deleted or locked going forward.Community members: Please report abuse rather than quoting offending posts. Thank you!
I bolded the part that's important...
What if, for just one day, we were able to resist the urge to respond to these threads? Like we all banded together and recruited the other non-nuts to join the us in the Pasture only...
I think all posts by the following should be ignored:
Joe*Plummer
StuckIn*lueState
mrs*so
Dag*er55
eha*t
Haf*r
Now, that's my initial list of people who bug me... I know they tend to be only Anti-Obama... but that's a good portion of the crap on the boards at any given time...
Let me know if you think this will work and if do who else should be added....

The pasture is dead, and also it seems rational thought on Comcast Forum political board. I blame the moderators. The extremists from both sides have been out in force as the election nears as could be predicted, what has not been out in force is the moderating staff. By not attending to the forum the extremes dominated the forum and polarized it.
Several members have been given cart blanc in authoring threads ad naseum on the same subject. Painting the front page with one political thought was/is an orchestrated campaign to dominate, it is akin to screaming. These puerile posters should have been warned and banned. Their take over of the forum just polarized debate.
Another further polarizing action is the removal of both Chelsea and Sarah satirical threads. Humor is a unifying force. Its removal does not bode well for the Forum IMO.
I wrote the following jumbled thought to Wonder Woman, what ever the outcome, I fear that I am not long for the Comcast Forums. My posts are down as is my time one-line.
I have enjoyed each and every one of you and your posts. I wish you well; the Four Seasons in fact; Health, Wealth, Happiness and Long Life.
To Wonder Woman:
Lamenting Chelsea and Sarah
Were Sarah and Chelsea subject to Extraordinary Rendition? Were they erased on purpose?
While I certainly understand locking threads that have run their course, I am not sure I understand erasure. The satirical mind and search for frivolity in a contentious world has not run it's course; thank God. What ultimately has been erased is the balance and center found in humor, is that what was intended?
This forum of late has become a thoughtless never ending series of bash fests. Quick one two punches that end in lock, with no lasting or unifying thread. Humor is base and good. The satirical thread provided an outlet for that and was a unifying and moderating force among members. Why erase this?
As I commented on before when the Chelsea thread was locked back in July; where is the avenue and outlet for unifying humor now to be? It would be my suggestion that a way that allows for it be found. In a truly democratic sense "the invisible hand" of forum posters created one (well two) because it was lacking and desired.
I'm saddened and without anchor here, I feel unwanted, I have no institutional memory, no fraternal or familial bond.
All it seems I have to look forward to now is just bash after bash.
Cheers

Well Labour, thanks for trying. it seems the mods are not even responding to queries regarding Chelsea. The whole forum has gone to hell. It's just constant re-posting of lies and smears. The forum seems to be overrun by Noobs, hell, even Jodie's been fairly quiet. I don't get why the mods continue to let these threads go on. There is not a single substantive thread.
If we can't let loose with kittens and squirrels and complete non sequiturs, how will we vent? The pasture gave all of us with varying views, a place to just be goofy. What's life without a bit of slapstick? With only 10 days left, it's sad to see the forum has devolved beyond any sort of rationality. Time to move on I suppose. I can't imagine spending the next 10 days doing nothing but defending the fact that Obama and McCain are both US citizens, or discussing why Michelle Obama didn't go to Hawaii with Barack. It's become beyond infantile. I was greatly disappointed that the thread I started about the breaking news that Colin Powell had endorsed Obama had to be locked due to racially charged commentary. I thought it was a good story and worthy of discussion. I never imagined it would turn so nasty.
Well, that's my rant. Feel a bit better now.
Oh, and Ping, switch to FireFox.
Re: Lamenting Chelsea and Sarah
My guess is that it was locked because it had just become too long. Why not start another one and PM your Chelseaians to look for it?
Good Luck!
W_W
I received the above PM about 5 pm eastern time.
While it sounds nice, it doesn't address the questions raised, and leaves me a bit cold; I don't know why, maybe I just want to remain pissed. LOL
Cheers
Labour
Yeah right, 5,000 comments just disapeared forever. Too long my ass. Whatever some may think, Chelsea is (was) worthy of saving. I will remain pissed for the loss. Anyone here know how to access the way back machine? We should have been given or offered the option to save it somewhere else.
The Comcast forum was fun, when I first discovered it, thought it would be a great place to discuss news and politics. I may check in to see what you guys have to say, but it's looking like it's time to move on to other pastures. I truly do mourn the loss of Chelsea. I spend alot of time on other sites, but nothing compares to the fabulous little community we built with Chelsea. Chelsea was proof that those with often radically opposing points of view could still find a common ground. I will truly miss that.
Starting a new thread just wouldn't be the same.
I just found out about Chelsea. I am beyond shocked. I guess the Mods thought that 5000 + was too much. There is absolutely no reason to read the forums anymore. It has been devolving lately, but at least there was always solace in the racist pastures. I've really enjoyed meeting all my cyber-friends through Chelsea. We'll have to stay in touch here! Dyslexic kitties of the world UNTIE!
Here's Crono's answer:
"The majority of the thread was not relevant to the election. Many of the comments that were relevant were an attack against one of the candidates. We have the Coffee Shop for discussion not related to the election."
Jerk ass!
Pixel, sweet et. al. you are correct IMO and Crono is just wrong. Political satire can find no home in the Coffee Shop, it hits much too hard. Any attempt to post a political cartoon, humorous parody or satire will meet with displeasure from the CS crowd and be locked.
I argued in the past for an avenue for political frivolity and the small minds of the adnim, excepting W_W of course, couldn't see it.
Oh well, off to greener pastures I guess.
Cheers again all.
Labour
Ping,
I no longer respond to micocyco or merbenz. I've also given up on Jodie and steelgirl.
Con, tends to be fairly reasonable, and has even defended Obama on the citizen issue.
Thinktank_Bomber and ehast seem to be 2 new trolls, who just keep starting the same thread over and over.
It's at the point were there is no one left to respond to.
Ok, I take off some time to be with the wife and I come back to this crap. What the hell?
At least Patriot realized the importance if the thread to keep us from posting in other threads..
And yes. Labour, thanks for trying... I don't get it at all
